Programming for Trainees

One of our top priorities for the 2024 UVA Brain Symposium is to make the programming accessible and beneficial to our excellent neuroscience trainees from across the University. With the help of our planning committee that includes graduate and medical students, the following activities have been specifically designed with trainees in mind. We hope to see you there!

  1. Attend the event!

Trainees from across UVA and outside institutions are encouraged to register and attend as much of the symposium program as they are able.

  2. Participate in the Neuroscience Trainee Career Lunch on Wednesday, May 22nd.

We are organizing a breakout session for trainees over the lunch hour on the second day of the symposium. The session will include representatives from various careers paths who will be sharing their insights and expertise with trainees in informal conversations over lunch.

Additional details will be posted as the event approaches. You will be asked to RSVP when registering for the symposium.

  3. Enter our poster contest.

The poster session & reception will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd from 3:30-5:00pm. The top posters from a 1) graduate student, 2) postdoctoral researcher, and 3) undergraduate student will be awarded $500 each towards travel/registration expenses for a neuroscience conference.

Learn more and submit your abstract before April 15, 2024 (11:59pm EDT)!

  4. Be a keynote speaker at our opening night dinner!

We are looking for two UVA neuroscience trainees from any School or Department to deliver remarks during the opening night dinner of the symposium on May 21st in the Dome Room of the Rotunda. The topic of the talk is “the future of neuroscience".
