Request for Poster Abstract Submissions
The 2026 Brain Symposium seeks to showcase groundbreaking neuroscience research at the University of Virginia and enhance the UVA neuroscience community through research talks, networking events, and other learning opportunities. The event program includes a poster session and reception on Wednesday, May 20 afternoon.
The UVA Brain Institute seeks abstract submissions from across the University for the poster session.
Eligibility: Any UVA faculty member, staff member, fellow, resident, postdoc, graduate student, or undergraduate student who performs neuroscience research is eligible to submit.
Focus: Posters/abstracts can address any subject related to neuroscience.
Guidelines: Submissions should include title, authors, a 250-word abstract (no tables or figures), and references.
Submission Portal: Submissions will be accepted beginning on March 2, 2026.
Deadline to submit: Tuesday, March 31, 2026 (11:59pm EDT).
Abstract review: Abstracts will be reviewed to determine which abstracts will be accepted to be presented as posters at the symposium. If the number of submissions exceeds the numbers of spaces, priority may be given to trainee submissions and/or to abstracts that allow for a showcase of the broad spectrum of neuroscience research at the University. A basic review of clarity of the writing, quality of the methodology/approach, and impact of the results/evaluation outcomes may also be considered.
Notification of acceptance: All poster abstract submitters will be notified no later than April 15, 2026. Please note that accepted abstracts will be published in an abstract booklet available to attendees.
Poster guidelines: Poster dimensions may not exceed 48” by 48” (smaller sizes are acceptable). Each poster will be assigned a number and poster location; we will provide this information to lead presenters prior to the event. The presenter is responsible for ensuring their poster is delivered and affixed to the poster display board. T-pins will be provided.
